We are once again entering the month
where this nation traditionally celebrates the offering of thanks.
With news of elections and wars and economic concerns and disease
and natural disasters dominating the headlines, one might wonder
just what there is to be thankful for.
I was pondering that very question during
morning devotions when the Spirit led me to 1 Corinthians 13:4,
which tells me that, “Love is patient.” Think about that for a
moment. When we consider all of the things God does for us, do we
ever really stop and think how patient God is with us? I know how
quickly I lose my temper, my focus, my patience, and I don’t have
anywhere near the responsibility that God does…why is that?
Could it be that God knows that His plan for
His creation is a good one? Could
it be that God knows the only one you can truly depend upon within
this plan is God? Could it be that God is patient with us because he
knows His plan is not dependent upon us and therefore His plan is
really a gift of GOOD NEWS to us, a gift in which He invites us to
share with Him on account of His grace and love toward
us?
During this hectic time in the world maybe we
can say thank you to God by following His example of patience for us
and not run so rapidly to position of fear and doubt as we ponder
the day’s headlines…what do you think?
